“You are sealed in the power of the Holy Spirit and marked as Christ’s own forever!” Are there any better words we can hear? Think about it. Not ‘until we mess up’, not ‘until we turn our backs on Him’, not ‘until we are adults’, not ‘until we die’…but forever!
Church of the Resurrection has dates for Holy Baptism schedule through May of 2011. We have made sure that baptisms are scheduled at a “liturgically appropriate” times, for example, not during Lent or Advent. Baptisms are generally held in the context of our worship services. The congregation has a major role in every baptism, and makes a promise on behalf of the one being baptized. They promise to do everything in their power to uphold that person in their new life in Christ.
Once a family has decided they are interested in baptism, they will need to fill out our Baptism planning form. This form can be obtained by calling the Office or by downloading it from our website. Once the form is filled out, they will need to meet with the clergy. Pre-baptismal counseling is important, because while we get to hear the most amazing promise from God, that we are his forever, we are also making several promises before God. It is important that we understand what those promises are and how best to keep them.
